“Eco-friendly” and “non-toxic” are broad labels. Before choosing a service, ask what work will be done, what materials will be used and what precautions your household needs.
Rodent Control Inc. treats rat and mouse entry problems in single-family, standalone homes. Our work focuses on inspection of accessible areas, snap trapping and rodent proofing. This article explains that approach; it is not an offer of general pest, bed bug, garden or outdoor-only rodent treatment.
Start With the Problem Inside Your Home
Tell the inspector what you have seen or heard and where it happens. Useful details include scratching in the attic, signs in the garage or activity near a kitchen wall.
We look for signs of rats or mice and possible entry points in areas we can reach. We explain the findings and any access limits before recommending work.
What Chemical-Free Rat and Mouse Control Includes
- Inspection: Review accessible areas for activity and possible openings.
- Snap trapping: Address rats or mice already inside, when recommended.
- Rodent proofing: Close identified entry points included in the agreed work.
- Prevention advice: Discuss steps around the home that may reduce food and shelter.
We do not describe botanical sprays, heat treatments, steam or the release of predators as RCI services. A product being natural does not establish that it is suitable for your home.
How the Inspection Leads to a Work Plan
A clear proposal connects the findings to the recommended tasks. Ask which openings will be sealed, where traps will go and what follow-up is included.
We explain the proposed work before you approve it. Inaccessible areas should be identified rather than presented as fully inspected or sealed.

Precautions for Children and Pets
Chemical-free trapping is not risk-free. Tell the technician about children and pets before trap placement. Ask which areas should remain off limits, and do not move or handle traps without guidance.
Do not assume that “humane” means non-lethal or that live capture includes relocation. Ask about the actual method proposed. Our standard trapping description is snap trapping.
For independent information on rat management and trap precautions, see UC IPM’s rat management guide.
Keep Cleanup and Insulation Scope Clear
Trapping and sealing openings do not automatically include cleanup or insulation replacement. Those tasks depend on the findings and the proposal you approve.
If rodent-related cleaning, sanitizing, odor treatment or insulation work is recommended, ask which areas are included. Discuss products and access precautions for that work separately. Avoid treating the phrase “chemical-free” as a promise about every cleanup product.
Questions to Ask Before Choosing a Service
- Does this service address rats or mice entering my detached home?
- Which areas can the inspector access?
- What trapping and proofing work is recommended?
- What precautions apply to my household?
- Are cleanup, insulation and follow-up included or separate?
Choose based on a clear scope and answers to these questions, rather than a label alone. No description should promise a harmless treatment or a permanently rodent-free home without explaining the actual terms.
